and texas. who would think that would be where we're dealing with a christmas snowstorm but it is. we had reports up to 12 inches of snow. we have winner storm warnings there. around another six to eight inches of snow falling across some spots. interstate 25, i-10 through texas. snow i-20 in midland. maybe you will see a white christmas. hard to imagine there. here is where the snow is across the country. all the action is across parts of the west. pacific northwest and through the rockies where you expect to see that we'll see a bit of a white christmas in oklahoma, texas and in towards kansas. look at fargo, north dakota, nothing. indianapolis, nothing. last year all the floods in the spring will not happen this year because we don't have the snow back. even the northeast not looking at white christmas for almost everybody. that means you will get home for christmas. that is the good part. jon: that is the good news. i will take a holiday without a lot of travel nightmares. rick, thank you. jenna: knock on wood. you don't want to jinx us now. jon: i'm knocking. can you hear me? jenna:

that will be moving into texas, but most of the country is in good shape, a far cry from yesterday when there was so much rain and severe weather through georgia late yesterday towards the rush hour. there were not a lot of people on the roads. serious problems. there is a look at what's going on right now. the storm has moved out to the north and the east. here's a look back at the damage in georgia. we had 50 trees knocked down and 17 power poles. thousands of people without power. tens of thousands without power. there was structural damage as well. this was probably straight line wind damage and not a tornado, but a scary night and again that storm is zipped out to the north and the east. the only thing we are watching is lingering snow in new mexico. we heard about a closure along the texas-new mexico state line along i-40. light snow continues and we will see a few inches about three to five in roswell and two to four in midland. that storm that moves out tomorrow, there will be issues on the roads in texas. we are talking about 45 and 35. i-20 and i-tennesseeing light rain and lingering snow.

. that's your forecast for friday. the snow will be in new mexico even parts of texas. the coldest air still in the west. even for this time of year it's not terribly cold. 62 in atlanta and in the wake of the storm, still holding on to the 60s, falling into the 40s in the northeast and christmas eve, quiet for the majority of the country with the exception of the south. texas will see rain snow showers through west texas and we expect rain into new orleans, as well. a little bit of active weather in the northwest. light snow in the cascades. temperatures in the middle of the country, starting to warm after the big snow. denver will be 40 on christmas eve. christmas day, quiet, as well. rain showers will be across the southeast. a storm is going to squash the rain and keep it out of the ohio valley and northeast. it's going to stay further to the south. 82 in orlando. how does that sound? a little rain in seattle. by the time we take off our workweek on monday there's not a lot happening either. on tuesday, another storm comes in out of the northwest. more rain in the

southwest don't have to dream of a white christmas this year. take a look at this. el paso, texas, had blowing snow, icy roads this morning. snow and ice closed parts of 10 and 25 across new mexico. on the other hand, parts of the country where traveling is usual brutal this time of year, things aren't so bad. chad myers has the getaway forecast. where do you need to get away from, chad? >> need to get away from parts of new mexico, john. finally, though, in the past hour, i-40 has opened back up through new mexico and i-10. i can't tell you the last time i've ever heard of i-10 being closed because of snow. i-10, this is mexico. this is southern new mexico and arizona right here in el paso. you showed the pictures earlier. that's where the trouble was this morning. i-25 is still shut down for another couple of hours till they get the plows out. where is it going to be a white christmas? not very many spots. you have to go to the mountains, be up here. if you're going to be skiing in the cascades, good stuff, good snow. the sierra going okay. but colorado and utah, really good snow. ev
